SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a honeycomb element for the exhaust system of an automotive internal-combustion engine. The honeycomb element has at least a housing and a honeycomb structure with multiple channels formed by at least one at least partially shaped metal layer which creates connection points fixing the honeycomb structure in the cross-section of which there are radial areas with places of connection in at least one of which additionally at least 1 to maximum 20% of the inner contact points of at least one at least partially shaped metal layer form in the cross-section of the honeycomb structure one place of connection and in at least two of which the channels are made with different cross-sections. The automotive internal-combustion engine exhaust system containing the said honeycomb element is disclosed.
EFFECT: increased life-time of honeycomb element.
