FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves placing a hydrophone and a radiator in a measuring reservoir, while aligning the hydrophone with the reference direction to the radiator; irradiating the hydrophone with signals of the radiator and receiving a signal using the hydrophone; further, without changing the position of the geometric centre of the hydrophone relative the radiator, turning the hydrophone by 180°; receiving a signal of the radiator and measuring the change in time delay of the signal received by the hydrophone; when changing the direction of reception from the reference direction to the opposite, displacement of the acoustic centre of the hydrophone relative to the geometric centre in the direction of reception is calculated as a product of the obtained time delay by the speed of sound in water.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the position of the acoustic centre of a hydrophone.
