FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment of electric measurements, represents a method to assess the remaining service life of high-voltage insulation and is designed for preventive tests and diagnostics of insulation of high-voltage electric machines and transformers. The method consists in measurement of the value of return voltage at 30th second after start of measurement, and also the maximum value of the return voltage and time, when the maximum of return voltage is observed. The value of the return voltage at 30th second indicates insulation wear: the lower is this value, the more is the wear. Product of the maximum value of return voltage and time of maximum occurrence shows relative remaining period of insulation service life: the lower is the product, the less is the remaining resource.

EFFECT: increased objectivity and validity of assessment of the remaining service life of high-voltage insulation.
