SUBSTANCE: circular antenna system, multichannel receiver, multichannel analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and temporary Fourier transform are used to generate a space-time array of complex data En,k, displaying field strength values at n points in space (n is the number of the dipole) and at k moments in time with measurement intervals of 1-2 s. A correlation matrix is formed, whose dimension is equal to the number of beams, elements of which are averaged across space. Azimuth and elevation angle estimates are given and beam parameters are estimated based on the maxima of a likelihood composite function in the two-dimensional space of azimuths and elevation angles.

EFFECT: faster and more accurate determination of angular parameters of a multi-beam ionospheric signal.
