SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microchips for printer cartridges used in combination with several types of cartridges of printers and/or printers of different models or families. A range of microchips perform data transfer in response to requests for data or information transfer and/or commands of the printer, such as printer processor. In case if the microchip has the correct data or information, the printer can be operated in combination with this particular cartridge. The memory element comprises at least one separate memory sub-element adapted only for reading, and at least one separate rewritable sub-element of memory. Each sub-element of memory adapted only for reading, can correspond to the printer of one model or one family.

EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of using one microchip of printer cartridge in combination with printers of a range of different models or families.
