SUBSTANCE: invention relates to link state based routing protocols and particularly to resolution of link state identifier conflicts when assigning link state. The technical result is achieved by determining that a preliminary LSID, generated for a first route that has been added, is in conflict with a LSID assigned by the LSA for a second route, and that either the first or the second route is a route to a host, the route to the host is inhibited; if the first route is a route to the host, inhibition includes preventing the sending of the LSA for the first route; if the second route is a route to the host, inhibition includes clearing the LSA for the second route and preventing the sending of the LSA for the second route; despite inhibiting the route to the host, network accessibility in the range which categorises the route to the host is provided through a route which is not a route to the host.

EFFECT: facilitating link state identifier (LSID) conflict resolution by avoiding sharing of the same LSID by different link state announcements (LSA) associated with different routes.
