FIELD: physics, nuclear.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering. Reactor fuel assembly comprises large quantity of nuclear fission fuel cells to be subjected to deflagration wave flame front which displaces through fuel cells. Excess reactivity is controlled by multiple structures of neutron absorbers. Said neutron absorbers are selectively fitted in and withdrawn from fuel assembly to control over excess reactivity, hence, location, rate and front of combustion. Said location, rate and front of combustion are controlled also by neutron fluency to decrease the risks of thermal and radiation destruction of structural materials.
EFFECT: optimised control over fuel burnup depth.
