FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: tank comprises a body divided by a partition into two compartments, each of which is equipped with a bellows with a control stem. In each compartment there is one hole with a supply valve to supply water and one drain hole. Drain holes are made in the second bottom, located above the bottom with the common drain hole. One compartment is a compartment for pure tap water, and the other compartment is a compartment for spent water. The compartment for spent water is made as capable of arrival of spent water via a partition with height h or via a hole in it, arranged at the height h, into the compartment for pure tap water. The supply valve for supply of pure tap water is adjusted to supply water to the height h_1, and the supply valve for supply of spent water is adjusted to supply water to the height h₂, besides, h₂>h≥h₁. The method of toilet tank operation includes usage of a tank of above design.

EFFECT: reduced flow rate of pure tap water or its complete elimination, improved hygiene and quality of users life.
