RADAR SYSTEM FOR MONITORING NEAR-EARTH SPACE Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G01S13/00

Abstract RU 2518062 C1

FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: radar system for monitoring near-earth space includes at least one illumination space station, having at least one illumination signal transmitter, ground-based data receiving and transmitting stations connected to a ground-based system control centre, which is connected to the illumination signal transmitter; the system also includes spaced-apart low-orbit receiving stations which are synchronised with each other and are configured to receive and process direct illumination signals of the illumination signal transmitter and radar signals re-reflected from objects, obtained from scattering of the illumination signal on objects located in a given region in space outside the Earth's atmosphere or within upper layers thereof, wherein the low-orbit receiving stations are connected to the ground-based data receiving and transmitting stations, and the ground-based system control centre is configured to transmit and receive data and communication from illumination space stations, wherein each of the illumination signal transmitters is configured to operate in a wavelength range characterised by maximum absorption of radio-frequency radiation in the Earth's atmosphere.

EFFECT: high reliability and noise-immunity of a radar system, accuracy of estimates of trajectory characteristics of observed objects, smaller size and weight of on-board radar stations.
