SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication networks using modulation frequency allocation in transceiving base stations. Sampling and processing of a subset of discretised signals are performed to determine mismatch (error) signals for each of the discretised signals. Said error signals are multiplied by an estimated symbol and summed to obtain one error signal. That error signal is used to adjust a set of discretised signals to be used and processed with respect to subsequent symbols. The error signal is also used to interpolate discretised signals in an infinitely small approximation to the point of maximum opening of the eye diagram.
EFFECT: fewer synchronisation symbols, thereby enabling wireless communication devices to use a relatively low signal sampling rate and computational power for clock extraction.
