SUBSTANCE: tracking wireless unit may be synchronised with a signal of a global positioning system (GPS), if it is available. As an alternative, the tracking wireless unit may receive quality indicators related to one or several target units. Quality indicators may relate to parameters, which may be used to assess a target unit for time synchronisation. On the basis of quality indicators the tracking wireless unit may select a target wireless unit for time synchronization. The tracking wireless unit may them synchronise timing with the target wireless unit. Besides, the tracking wireless unit may continuously assess nearest wireless units for detection, whether other wireless units have higher quality indicators compared to current target wireless units, and may accordingly repeatedly synchronise with units having higher indicators.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of timing synchronisation between wireless units in a wireless communication network.
