FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: set of invention can be used for bonding the ends of metal strips together by point friction welding, for example, at the inlet of aluminium strip machining unit. In compliance with this invention, both edges of the strips are positioned one on the other to overlap. First, end of first strip (1) is locked by clamp (15) at outlet side. Start of second strip (2) is positioned across direction of motion relative to first strip end, for example, centred thereat and locked by clamp (14) at inlet side. Or, on the contrary, first, start of second strip (2) is locked to position first strip (1) end across direction of motion relative to second strip start to lock it thereat. Both are friction welded together at overlap zone by welding head (5) at several weld points. Proposed device comprises at least one clamp (15) at outlet side for locking the first metal strip (1) end and clamp (14) at outlet side to lock the second strip (2) end start. Said clamps (14) and (15) can displace across the direction of strips motion.
EFFECT: bonding of various metal alloys without burring.
