FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: patient's target anatomy (305) tracking system (300) may comprise the first marker (10) having a size and shape to be introduced into the patient to access the target anatomy; the first marker has the first electromagnetic (EM) sensor (50) and an imaging portion (90), a number of second markers (310) having sizes and shapes to be attached to the patient close to the target anatomy; each of the second markers has the second electromagnetic sensor and forms an image; there are also provided a field generator (340) applying a magnetic field to the target anatomy and inducing a current in the first and second sensors, and a processor (11, 320) having a controller locating the first and second markers on the basis of the induced currents.
EFFECT: enhancing the tracking procedure.
