FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and a method for tapping of molten aluminium from an electrolysis unit to obtain aluminium. The system includes a container having a housing adapted for placing into it of molten aluminium, and a chute having a base section connected to the container housing, a tip section contacting the molten metal in the electrolysis unit, and a channel connecting the base section to the tip section for passage of molten metal to the container housing; with that, molten metal in the electrolysis unit contains molten aluminium and electrolyte, and an electrical source connected to the electrolysis unit and having the possibility of supplying auxiliary current to the chute to create an auxiliary electromagnetic field at least near the tip section of the chute, which provides at least partial increase of molten aluminium flow to the chute when auxiliary current is supplied to the chute being in liquid contact with the molten metal in the electrolysis unit. Besides, a method for tapping aluminium from the electrolysis unit is described.
EFFECT: easier removal of molten metal from the electrolysis unit.
