SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrument making. Determination of distance from observer, a technical hardware, to radio wave radiator consists in definition of the altitude of radio horizon line intersection above sea level hrh of this radio wave radiator by observer. Said height is set by observer entrance to or exit from the area wherein radiation power is carried by straight wave. Radio wave radiator radio characteristics revealed in observation are used to identify this source and to assign it to its carrier. Known geometrical characteristics of definite carrier allow the determination of carrier altitude corresponding to radiator altitude above sea level hc. Now, the distance from observer to radio wave radiator is defined by the formula where a is the Earth radius.
EFFECT: accurate determination of said distance and radiator coordinates.
