SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of microbiology. The essence of a method of detection and identification of microorganisms on a solid and a semi-solid medium consists in the realisation of: a) scanning of the solid or the semi-solid growth medium, about which it is known that it contains or can contain one or more than one colony of a microorganism, to localise any colonies present in the medium; b) direct analysis on the said growth medium of one or more than one colony, localised at the stage (a) with a diameter of an exciting beam less than approximately 100 mcm, with obtaining measurements of the intrinsic fluorescence (IF), characteristic of the microorganism in a colony; c) identification of the microorganism in the colony basing on IF measurements, where the microorganisms are characterised at a family, genus, species level or at the level of strain.

EFFECT: application of the claimed method makes it possible to detect and identify the microorganisms directly on the fluorescent solid and/or semi-solid growth media, including highly fluorescent media.
