SUBSTANCE: invention relates to positioning technologies. Each preparation of periodic auxiliary data includes session identification such that related messages upon delivery of periodic auxiliary data can be linked to each other at the receiving end. Any session modifications are processed by identifying a periodic session such that changes in delivery of auxiliary data can indicate the correct session.
EFFECT: enabling efficient replacement of a virtual reference receiver within the same auxiliary data transmission session to ensure continuity of reference measurements by performing soft handover.
