SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for manufacture of smoking products of tobacco material wherein the tobacco material is preliminarily treated in at least one extrusion process involving compaction with increase of pressure and temperature as well as mechanical treatment and instantaneous drying the material under decreased pressure at the outlet of the extruder (1); essentially, all the process heat is supplied in the form of enthalpy of heated process fluid (7) introduced into the tobacco material in the extruder (1) as the heat medium; temperature in the extruder rising, the process fluid is introduced into the extruder with increasing mass flow, in particular, with mass flow equal to 5 - 60 kg/hour, primarily - 30 - 45 kg/hour.
