FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, traumatology, treatment of vertebral compression fractures in children. The method involves conducting a set of procedures: spinal axis traction by pelvis along an inclined plane in a combination with reclination of the compressed vertebral body, physiotherapy, spinal immobilisation with an extension plaster jacket, therapeutic exercises, drug-induced therapy for pain syndrome and osteopenia. The 2-hour spinal traction is performed on a bed with a raised head at an angle of 30° to a horizontal plane 4 times a day for 5-7 days from the moment of admission to hospital. From the 3rd-4th post-traumatic day, 6-8 UHF procedures covering the spinal portions above and below the compressed vertebra are performed. The jacket immobilisation is started on the 5-7th day after pain relief in a projection of the compressed vertebra; this vertebra must be arranged along the posterior body surface above an upper edge of the jacket; from the front, the upper edge of the jacket must be arranged at the level of the sternal cut and must rest on wings of the ilium from below. The therapeutic exercises are done by the patient's body re-extension through the upper edge of the jacket during the day, 3 sets of 50 times in a standing or lying position with the body fixed maximum extended for 10-12 seconds. The method provides optimisation, complex pathogenetic approach to treating and providing an adequate consolidation of the spinal fracture, elimination of the pathophysiological changes related to traumatic injuries (pain syndrome, disturbed microcirculation: local oedema, haemorrhages, defense and muscular contracture), eliminating a load on anterior portions of the compressed vertebra, previously graduated and sparing reposition of the displaced injured cartilage apophyses, reinforcing the intraosseous struts of the vertebral bodies in osteopenia, reducing a probability of developing post-traumatic osteochondrosis.
EFFECT: method is more cost-efficient as compared to a prototype.
