FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises measuring variation of the geomagnetic field, geodesic coordinates of the current location of an object, altitude of the object above the sea level, having a non-zero angular or linear velocity; time spent on moving the object on a known path and the total length of said path; calculating a system of parameters of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm: amplitude of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm, rate of rise (fall) of the power characteristic of the unperturbed geomagnetic field over time, frequency of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm, potential of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm; comparing results of calculated physical parameters with magnetometer readings and ranking geomagnetic activity indices; in case of match thereof, determining the nature of the occurrence of geomagnetic variations in the space of existence of the object, having a non-zero angular or linear velocity, as well as the association of the amplitude of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm with one of established tabular intervals; further determining the index of the geomagnetic pseudo-storm in accordance with a special table.
EFFECT: high accuracy of identifying components of natural geomagnetic variations.
