SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to geophysics, and more specifically to methods of determining variation of geomagnetic field during magnetic observation, mainly during sea magnetic observation. The technical outcome is the increased accuracy when measuring variation of a static geomagnetic field. The method of determining static geomagnetic field during sea magnetic observation involves simultaneous measurement of variation of the geomagnetic field using two or more magnetometric converters, fitted on bearers, spaced apart at a given distance along the direction of motion of the bearers, measurement of the variation of the geomanetic field, in which an extra magnetometric converter is put vertically, at a distance of 100-200 metres from the surface of the sea, with provision for its displacement along the direction of motion of the first magnetometric converter with its subsequent displacement in the transverse direction of motion of the first magnetometric converter at speed which exceeds the speed of the first magnetometric converter by at least an order.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of magnetic observation when measuring variation of a static geomagnetic field.
