METHOD FOR SHORT-TERM EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01V1/00 G01V9/00

Abstract RU 2611582 C1

FIELD: mining engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of seismology and can be used for short-term earthquake prediction. Essence: One can determine the spatial position of seismomagnetic meridians. One can determine the probable places of occurrence of earthquakes as places with radius of not more than 770 km from the intersection of seismomagnetic meridians with the boundaries of lithospheric plates. On satellite images one can identify an area over the intersection of the seismomagnetic meridians with the boundaries of lithospheric plates, in which there is a cloud of seismic produced structure. At any point of ground observations, one can determine a date of passage of the lunar tidal wave through it. One can determine the distance in an easterly direction in degrees of longitude between the point of ground surveillance and the intersection of seismomagnetic meridian with the border of the lithospheric plates, over which there is a cloud of seismic produced structure. The obtained data shall be calculated for a predictive date of the earthquake. According to the maximum linear dimension of cloud seismic produced structure, one can determine the magnitude of the predicted earthquake.

EFFECT: invention allows to improve the accuracy in determining the timing of the predicted earthquake.
