FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises measuring the sea level using recording devices; determining upper culmination times of the Moon on a fixed geographic meridian; determining sea level fluctuation by analysing results of observing periodic components in time series; determining harmonic constants on the frequency spectrum of fictitious satellites; when analysing measurement results, dividing the frequency spectrum into equal time cycles with subsequent superposition thereof, where harmonic constants are determined for a separate fictitious satellite; the time variation of the tidal level at the measurement point under the effect of tidal forces is determined from phase shift; change in the tidal phase is determined from the measured sea level values at fixed points of the sea, arranged in ascending values of the time interval between the closest preceding moment of the upper culmination of the Moon and the time of the upper culmination of the Moon. Also, based on the variation of the amplitude of the harmonic component of the tidal height with time, the spatial variability of the onset of maximum tidal water after syzygy on the open sea is determined. Transformation of the amplitude, angular frequency and phase of the tidal signal harmonic is carried out via integral and linear Hilbert transformation. The values of water hours expressed in mean solar time are also determined.
