FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and can be used in upgrading car bodies. Method for upgrading hopper car containing running supports, frame, body with side and end walls and bin with at least two unloading hatches occluded by covers consists in dismantling lifting gear of covers and bin. The bin is manufactured walls of which are made with possibility to accommodate cover shafts. Then the bin is connected with body walls. Covers are manufactured. Each of the covers is formed by curved sheet and have side members rigidly connected with shaft. Casings are manufactured to protect cover shafts against impact of material being transferred in the bin. Casings are mounted rigidly, and cover shafts are mounted as to be capable to rotate in the bin. Cover shafts are connected with pneumatic cylinder rods by levers.

EFFECT: creation of car providing possibility to adjust volume of discharged material with lower energy consumption, simplification of upgrade procedure.
