FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrophysical and electrochemical treatment, particularly, to spark-erosion alloying (SEA) of steel part surface. It can be used for machining of shaft supports in contact with inserts of journal bearings. Proposed method comprises forming of at least one surface layer of at least one soft antifriction material selected from group including indium, tin, copper and silver. This is performed by SEA at generation of discharge power of 0.01-0.03 J at shaft journal surface in contact with bearing insert. Copper or silver surface layer formed by SEA at discharge power of 0.01-0.4 J is subjected to nonabrasive ultrasound finishing.
EFFECT: longer life and higher reliability of bearing.
