FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: provide electroerosion alloying by the graphite electrode (EEA) with the discharge energy at which the thermal effect area does not exceed the thickness of steel part surface layer residue, strengthened by the mentioned ion nitriding. In particular cases of carrying out the invention after EEA, the non-abrasive ultrasonic finishing processing (NAFP) is performed. EEA is implemented in stages with the discharge energy decreasing at each subsequent stage. The steel part is restored as the protective sleeve of the rotor end seal.

EFFECT: steel parts surface quality is provided, in which during the manufacturing process or after assembly, the hardened surface layer is partially removed without dismantling the assembly.
