SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. For one subband, user equipment (UE) collects rank indicator (RI) information of the current channel, where the RI information indicates the rank (υ) of the current channel, and υ is a positive number not greater than 8; the UE determines the amount of precoding matrix indicator (PMI) information to be transmitted back to a base station in accordance with υ, and transmits to the base station PMI information in said amount and RI information; the base station collects said subband information on the channel in accordance with PMI information in said amount and RI information.

EFFECT: providing multiple levels of feedback accuracy, flexible feedback configuration with different accuracy in accordance with specific needs and effective utilisation of feedback overhead.
