SUBSTANCE: method is provided for receiving a rank indication (RI) performed in the base station, comprising the steps of: receiving, from the user equipment, the RI, the first precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and the second PMI, determining the index i₂ of the codebook based on the RI and the second PMI. Values 0-15 are assigned to the second PMI (I_PMI2) for the RI=1, and the values 0-3 are assigned to the second PMI (I_PMI2) for each of the RI=2, RI=3 and RI=4. The index i₂ of the codebook contains I_PMI2 for RI=1, and index i₂ of the codebook contains {0, 1, 4, 5} for RI=2.

EFFECT: providing a decision regarding transmission, from the user equipment to the base station, feedback information for the codebook.
