SUBSTANCE: furniture pivotal joint (4) includes a support part (5) and a pivot cup (6a)(pivotally connected to the latter and intended for attachment to furniture parts (2, 3)) as well as a damping device (10) for damping relative motion between the support part (5) and the pivot cup (6a); the damping device (10) is positioned in or on the pivot cup (6a); the damping device (10) has a body (10a) including the first attachment means (24); positioned on the pivot cup (6a) are the second attachment means (23); the body (10a) of the damping device (10) may be inserted into the pivot cup (6a) and, while in the assembled condition, is essentially wholly positioned inside the pivot cup (6a); the body (10a) of the damping device (10) and the pivot cup (6a) may be connected to each other with the help of the first and the second attachment means (23, 24) while in such assembled condition.
