FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: band under the tensile stress below the elasticity limit is alternately bent around the flattening rollers and is subject to plastic stretching, a guide roller is installed before one or more flattening rollers adjusted in respect to the band respectively and has the diameter which is greater than that of the flattening roller set respectively behind it. The flattening roller for changing the value of dropping is adjusted in relation to the respective guide roller so that the free length of the band between the point of the band output from the guide roller and the point of the band run-on on the respective flattening roller does not exceed the prespecified maximal value above which longitudinal waviness of the band occurs. The installation is preferably designed so that in the course of changing the value of dropping, i.e. the angle of contact, the free band length stays below the maximal value in the whole adjustment range.

EFFECT: longitudinal band waviness is eliminated.
