FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Yellow inorganic pigments are obtained by mixing (NH4)6Mo7O24·4H2O and Sm2O3 in a stoichiometric ratio; ball milling and calcining in air at 1500-1650°C for 10-12 hours. The obtained pigments have chromaticity coordinates defined by a CIE 1976 colour scale of L*=86.67, a*=-3.40, b*=64.67 or L*=83.34, a*=-5.33, b*=64.21, when calcined in air at 1600°C-1650°C for 10-12 hours, and L*=82.15, a*=-7.10, b*=47.19, when calcined in air at 1500°C for 10 hours.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a nontoxic yellow inorganic pigment consisting of samarium and molybdenum oxides which may be used as an additive to plastics, glass, ceramics and paints.
