FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extruded foam polymer, characterised by low level of bromine content, and to method of obtaining said extruded foam material. Foam polymer contains (a) polymer matrix, where more than 50 wt % of all polymers in polymer matrix represent alkenyl aromatic polymers, (b) 0.8-1.4 wt % of bromide calculated per polymer matrix weight, (c) 0.05-0.5 wt % of hydrobromic acid acceptor, dispersed in polymer matrix, calculated per polymer matrix weight, (d) less than 0.1 wt % of C-C and O-O labile organic compounds, dispersed in polymer matrix, calculated per polymer matrix weight, and (e) 0.5-1.5 wt % of graphite, dispersed into polymer matrix, calculated per the total weight of polymer matrix.
EFFECT: heat-insulating extruded foam polymer undergoes German test for fire resistance B2 successfully without necessity of presence of large quantity of C-C or O-O labile organic compounds and bromide.
