FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for melt extrusion of styrene polymers. Method of producing a foam polymer, which contains bromated styrene-butadiene polymer as a fire retardant, includes: obtaining pressurised melt containing molten styrene polymer, a flame-retardant amount of bromated styrene-butadiene polymer and a mixture of foaming agents, and forcing through a hole in zone of lower pressure, where foaming agent expands, and polymer is cooled and hardened to form foam material, where bromated styrene-butadiene polymer represents a bromated block-copolymer of styrene and butadiene, which contains at least 50 % (wt) bromine, and where mixture of foaming agents includes carbon dioxide, ethanol and water.

EFFECT: obtaining foamed material according to method of melt extrusion in presence of a bromated styrene-butadiene fire retardant, wherein pore size and density of foam material are comparable with those of foam materials obtained using hexabromocyclododecane fire retardant.
