FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structural materials and specifically to flame retardant materials and is intended for applying a flame retardant coating on external and internal metal structures of civil, industrial and military facilities, for treating railway transport structures, bridges, flyovers and for improving fire-resistance rating owing to improved heat-insulating properties of the composition when exposed to flames. The flame retardant composition contains an aqueous composition of a film-forming agent, ammonium polyphosphate, pentaerythritol, a thickener, titanium dioxide, melamine, an antifoaming agent, water and further contains sodium nitrite, core iron-ammonium phosphate, a dispersant, a biocide, microtalc, kaolin, a coalescent and, as an aqueous dispersion, a film-forming aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl ether of versatic acid and/or an aqueous dispersion of acrylate.
EFFECT: invention improves flame retardant efficiency and anticorrosive properties.
