FIELD: physics, acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of therapeutic use of shock waves. The device for generating therapeutic shock waves includes acoustic wave generator with frequency between 1 MHz and 1000 MHz, a housing connected to the acoustic wave generator and a medium in the housing, which is configured to demonstrate nonlinear properties in the presence of at least one propagating acoustic wave. The device is configured to propagate at least a portion of the emitted acoustic waves through the medium in order to generate one or more shock waves. The method of generating therapeutic shock waves includes providing a plurality of acoustic waves having at least one frequency of at least 1 MHz, propagation thereof through the medium in the housing and generating one or more shock waves from propagation of at least a portion of the acoustic shock waves through the medium.
EFFECT: use of the invention provides more coordinated therapeutic action with shock waves.
