FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal-chemical processing and can be used for nitration of complex-shape part including closed cavities. Nitration of steel parts in gasostat in atmosphere of molecular nitrogen comprises pre-evacuation of gasostat chamber to 30-60 kPa, forcing nitrogen via absorber, increasing nitrogen pressure at the rate of 0.01-0.06 MPa to preset pressure and heating to 750-1100°C at the rate of 1-40°C/min. Said absorber cleans nitrogen of oxygen and carbon-containing impurities to their concentration not over 0.3 wt %. After nitration cooling is performed at nitrogen pressure whereat nitration is terminated to temperature in the range of 350°C - ambient temperature. Thereafter pressure is decreased to barometric pressure. Nitration is performed using the device with chamber accommodating container composed by barrel and coaxial cover. Said barrel comprises top and bottom chambers divided by horizontal perforated baffle. Tube is secured to cover bottom to extend via barrel top part into bottom part whereat powder absorber is arranged. Side openings are arranged at tube-to-absorber contact zone for uniform gas transfer via absorber.
EFFECT: stable nitrogen content in nitrated layer and layer thickness.
