FIELD: measuring instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to measuring instrumentation for variable magnetic parameters and can be used in magnetic measurements in the following areas: magnetic physics, paleomagnetism, biomagnetism. Method of magnetic moment measurement in samples with superconducting quantum interference device (SQID) magnetometer involves mechanical movement of sample, and as a novel feature, before measurement a sample is placed at distance from receiving coils above, zero voltage is set at magnetometer output, then the sample is shifted down a bit below the top receiving coil, and maximum magnetometer output voltage UMAX is measured to determine magnetic moment M by the formula: M=k·UMAX-Mh, where k is calibration constant, Mh is sample holder contribution.

EFFECT: improved and simplified method of magnetic moment measurement in samples with SQID magnetometer.
