FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to industrial fishery. The protective device comprises a tank for storage of catch, at that the tank has in the first terminal device the opening (9) for receiving fish, and the device (10) for removing fish from the hooks inside the tank. At least one opening for draining liquid from the tank is provided, and at least one device (7, 8) for guiding the tackle through the upper part of the tank from the first terminal device (12) to the second terminal device (14). The method comprises attaching the protective device to the tackle during its placement so that the tackle passes through the device during its pulling without its lifting to the surface. Using the opening and closing mechanism (11) the opening (9) is opened for receiving fish to the device, and then it is closed. During the passage of the tackle inside the device the fish is removed from the hook using the device (10).
EFFECT: invention enables to avoid losses of catch in long-line fishing during the lifting of the tackle on the fishing boat.
