FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: medical connector comprises a body, an elastic cap, a retracting rod and teeth. The body has an inlet, an inner cavity, an outlet through a male Luer section of the body and a fluid path from the inlet through the inner cavity to the outlet. The elastic cap comprises an outside perimeter hermetically sealed to the body. The elastic cap is configured so that it projects into the inner cavity thereby creating a fluid volume in the inner cavity, wherein the fluid path goes through the above fluid volume. The retracting rod extends through the fluid path in a male Luer, thereby sealing a tip of the male Luer and closing the fluid path, when the connector is inactive. The retracting rod is configured to contact the above elastic cap. The teeth extend along an outside of the male Luer and are connected to the retracting rod. Activating the connector enables travelling the teeth in relation of the male Luer and pushing out of the tip of the male Luer thereby giving an access to the fluid flow through the medical connector and deforming the elastic cap in the inner cavity to reduce the fluid volume in the inner cavity. The method for activating the above self-sealing medical connector for negative displacement involves the stages as follows. Inserting the male Luer of the medical connector into a female Luer of an auxiliary device. Engaging the teeth of the connector connected to the retracting rod to a surface of the female Luer. Displacing the teeth in relation to the male Luer, since the medical connector is engaged with the female Luer, thereby retracting the rod from the outlet of the male Luer and giving an access to the fluid path through the medical connector and reducing the fluid volume in the medical connector. According to the second version, the medical connector comprises the elastic cap, an upper body, a base, an upper tooth element being in contact with the elastic cap, the rod and one or more teeth. The elastic cap has a support ring. The upper body has the inlet connected to the inner cavity comprising a bearing surface of the cap. The base comprises the bearing surface of the support ring and the male Luer. The Luer comprises the outlet connected to a flow canal. The upper body and its base are hermetically connected by the elastic cap inside the upper body, and the support ring of the above elastic cap is hermetically fixed between the bearing surface of the cap and the bearing surface of the support ring to form the fluid volume fluid connected to the inlet and outlet. The rod extends from the upper tooth element through the flow canal. A rod tip is sized so that to seal the outlet of the male Luer, when the rod is inserted into the female Luer completely. The teeth extend from the upper tooth element through vent holes in the base and adjoin a surface of the male Luer. Pressure applied to the teeth in a direction parallel to the male Luer and from the outlet displaces the upper tooth element into the inner cavity, thereby deforming the elastic cap and reducing the fluid volume and retracting the rod from the outlet so that to unseal the outlet of the male Luer and opening the fluid path between the inlet and outlet. According to the third version, the medical connector comprises the body, th retracting rod and the canal formed in the tip of the male Luer from the outlet to an outer end of the tip. The fluid around the tip of the male Luer is retracted into the outlet through the above canal in the tip when detaching from the respective female Luer of the connector. According to the third version, the method for activating the medical connector involves the following stages. Inserting the male Luer of the medical connector into the female connector of the auxiliary device. The female Luer comprises a projection configured to displace the retracting rod sealing the inlet on the tip of the male Luer, when the connector is inactive, thereby giving an access to the fluid path from the inlet through the fluid volume formed inside the medical connector body by the first sealing between the retracting rod and body, to the outlet, and simultaneously reducing the fluid volume. Taking the male Luer of the medical connector out of the female Luer connection of the auxiliary device, thereby enabling the retracting rod sealing the inlet on the tip of the male Luer, simultaneously increasing the fluid volume, thereby retracting the fluid around the tip of the male Luer inside the medical connector through the canal formed in the tip of the male Luer from the outlet to the outer end of the tip, when the medical connector is detached from the female Luer connector. According to the fourth version, the medical connector comprises the body, the retracting rod and the canal formed in the tip of the male Luer from the outlet to an outer end of the tip, and a bellows valve. The bellows valve is arranged between the retracting rod and the body. The valve is configured to form the fluid volume within a portion of the inner cavity with the fluid path passing through the fluid volume. The retracting rod is pushed out of the tip of the male Luer, when the connector is engaged to the respective female Luer connector, thereby giving an access to the fluid path through the medical connector, while the bellows valve collapses thereby reducing the fluid volume. The fluid around the tip of the male Luer is retracted into the outlet through the above canal in the tip when detaching from the respective female Luer connector. According to the fourth version, the method for activating the medical connector involves the stage of inserting the male Luer of the medical connector into the female Luer of the auxiliary device. The female Luer comprises the projection configured to displace the retracting rod sealing the inlet on the tip of the male Luer, when the connector is inactive, thereby giving an access to the fluid path from the inlet through the fluid volume formed inside the medical connector body by the bellows valve between the retracting rod and the body, to the outlet, and simultaneously reducing the fluid volume. And the stage of taking the male Luer of the medical connector out of the female Luer connection of the auxiliary device, thereby enabling the retracting rod sealing the inlet on the tip of the male Luer, simultaneously increasing the fluid volume, thereby retracting the fluid around the tip of the male Luer inside the medical connector through the canal formed in the tip of the male Luer from the outlet to the outer end of the tip, when the medical connector is detached from the female Luer connector.
EFFECT: invention is provided with standard connective aids to be used with existing medical connectors, as well as it minimises or prevents leaking when attached or detached.
