FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, namely to an intravenous catheter assembly; it can be used for the access to patient’s vein, in particular for supplying fluid media to a patient or for removing fluid medium, especially blood. The intravenous catheter assembly contains a catheter sleeve, a hollow tubular catheter, a needle, a valve node, a device for opening the valve, and a protection node. The catheter sleeve has a distal end, a proximal end, and a chamber inside of it. The hollow tubular catheter has a proximal end and a distal end, while the catheter is connected with its proximal end to the distal end of the catheter sleeve, and the inner part of the catheter is open to the chamber inside the catheter sleeve. The needle has a rod and a pointed tip of the needle. The valve node is located inside the chamber of the catheter sleeve, and it contains essentially the first tubular valve part and the second valve part, in which the second valve part has a shape of a disk, and in which a valve disk contains a slot inside of it, while the second valve part is a two-stroke valve, and it is made with the possibility of opening to provide flow of fluid medium through the chamber in both directions, both proximal and distal ones. The device for opening the valve is made with the possibility of movement between the closed position, in which the second valve part is closed, and the opened position, in which the second valve part is open, while the device for opening the valve contains a channel passing longitudinally through it for passing fluid medium. The protection node of the needle contains a case for receiving the specified needle passing through it with a distal end and a proximal end, while the case is connected at its distal end to the proximal end of the catheter sleeve; and the needle protection located in the case. The needle protection contains a needle catcher, an elastic lever and a connecting foot. The needle catcher is made with the possibility of movement between the readiness position, in which the needle catcher is held on one side of the needle rod passing through the case, and the protected position, in which the needle catcher locks the pointed tip of the needle inside the case. The elastic lever displaces the needle catcher to the protected position, while the elastic lever rests on the inner case wall to forcedly move the needle catcher to the protected position. In the readiness position, the connecting foot connects the case to the proximal end of the catheter sleeve, and the movement of the needle catcher from the readiness position to the protected position makes the connecting foot disconnect the case from the catheter sleeve.

EFFECT: invention provides for an improved control of infusion and removal of fluid media to and from the patient via the catheter.
