FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pyrotechnical compositions containing nitrates of alkali or alkali-earth metals, with an organic component which is not explosive or thermal, which provide a sound and light signal when triggered. The pyrotechnical sound and light composition contains as an oxidant a mixture of potassium perchlorate, potassium nitrate and thiourea, as an organic fuel - a mixture of potassium benzoate with powdered iditol, and a process additive in the form of a lacquer solution of iditol, wherein the powdered iditol and the lacquer solution of iditol are in equal ratios.

EFFECT: invention provides, during combustion of the pyrotechnical composition, a high sound tone in the form of a shrill whistle which is accompanied by powerful emission of electromagnetic energy in the visible range with luminous intensity of not less than 1000 Cd.
