SUBSTANCE: invention relates to volumetric aerosol fire extinguishing, in particular to solid fuel aerosol-forming compositions. The aerosol-forming fire extinguishing composition contains fuel - a binder, additional fuel - carbon, and a gas-forming agent in the following ratios, wt.%: fuel-binder 0.2÷7.0, additional fuel, carbon 0.1÷4.0, gas-forming agent 17.0÷53.0, catalyst 0.1÷5.0, oxidizing agent, alkali metal nitrate 15.0÷45.0, additive generating flame retardants - balance.

EFFECT: improved fire extinguishing efficiency of the aerosol-forming fire extinguishing composition and increased speed of suppression of fires in a closed or conditionally closed space, in particular such as an electrical panel, an engine compartment of a car, an aircraft equipment housing.
