FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of mechanical characteristics of homogeneous coatings, and namely to determination of elasticity modulus of coatings by indentation into material surface of a cylindrical penetrator and can be used for measurement of elasticity modulus of coatings on substrates from different materials. Essence of the invention is as follows: a cylindrical penetrator is indented into a coating with known thickness. Modulus of rigidity of a coating-substrate system is determined in compliance with readings of an instrument recording communication between indenting force and immersion of the penetrator; then, a value of the ratio of rigidity modulus of the system to the substrate elasticity modulus is calculated, and elasticity modulus of the coatings is determined by a formula by means of known methods for detection of the function value as per the specified implicit dependence.
EFFECT: improving accuracy of determination of a coating elasticity modulus.
