SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment for determining the modulus of elasticity of a material of thin coatings. Thickness of the coating and the modulus of elasticity of the material of the base of the product is measured, the product is placed into a microhardness meter, with which the diamond pyramidal indenter is introduced into the product to a depth equal to the thickness of the coating, the penetration chart (loading curve) is recorded in the coordinates “loading force – penetration depth”, the data array of the parameter is obtained and compare with the theoretically calculated data array on the change of the parameter (Dtheor)i=[D{E*}⋅D{E*=1}] (or approximating dependence Dtheor=ƒ (s/h)) for a number of discrete values of the magnitude of the contact elasticity E* from the relative depth of penetration of the indenter into the surface of the model of a layered body, imitating the surface of the coated product, and the modulus of normal elasticity of the coating material E1 is determined according to the results of the maximum coincidence of the values of the parameter Dexp, obtained from the experiment, with a set of values of the parameter Dtheor in the range from 0.1 to 1.0 values of the relative depth of penetration of the indenter using dependencies.

EFFECT: reducing the complexity and improving the accuracy of determining the modulus of elasticity of a thin coating.
