SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in radar stations for controlling resolution thereof. The present method is based on generating a continuous frequency-modulated signal, emitting said signal in space, receiving a reflected signal and conversion thereof to an intermediate frequency using a homodyne method. For wide variation of the resolution of a radar station, modulation of the generated signal is repeated in each operating cycle, wherein the cycle duration is determined from the given range of the radar station and the given resolution. The given resolution is then used to determine the corresponding time of the end of emission, and the reflected signal is received in the time remaining until the end of the operating cycle, wherein the received reflected signal and the generated frequency-modulated signal are converted to an intermediate frequency using a homodyne method. The value of the intermediate frequency is proportional to the distance to the reflector.
EFFECT: variation of resolution of a radar station in a wide range.
