SUBSTANCE: method includes exposing charged particles to a non-uniform high-frequency field, wherein the field has a potential gradient along the Y axis and a gradient close to zero along the X axis, and a beam of charged particles with a given ratio of kinetic energy to charge is transmitted into the high-frequency field continuously in the XY plane at an acute angle α to the Y axis.

EFFECT: high sensitivity and stability of mass analysis and improved weight-size and structural-process characteristics of mass spectrometers.
