SUBSTANCE: method includes producing a polymer film which is stretched in one plane, forming a load distribution element in the polymer film, applying a tensile load on the polymer film on or near the load distribution element. The maximum tensile load increases substantially compared to an equivalent system without a load distribution element. The load distribution element is deformed upon application of the tensile load and yields a higher load at failure compared to a polymer film without a load distribution element.
EFFECT: improved physical and mechanical properties of films.
