SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cynology. The proposed device (10, 36, 39) for winding and unwinding the leash, primarily for walking the animal, has a coil (11) for the leash and a locking device (22), a control element (37) and a locking element (26). The control element (37) is made in the form of a braking button actuated by the man. The coil (11) for the leash is made with the ability of locking by means of the locking device (22) for blocking the unwinding movement of the coil (11) for the leash, and the control element (37) is made with the ability to actuate by means of control displacement, and by the control displacement of the control element (37) the locking displacement of the locking element (26) is caused for blocking the unwinding movement of the coil (11) for the leash. The transmitting means (23) transmits the control displacement to the locking displacement greater than the control displacement, of the locking element (26). The locking element (26) for converting the control displacement in pivoting displacement is connected to the control element (37) with the ability of rotation relative to it.
