FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: temporary technological insert is mounted on the special seat place, repeating the exact size of the latch. Effort, which tends to push the latch to the side is applied to the insert, at that, when the latch is clamped, the insert remains at rest. The flanges of water pipe are unclamped by using the hydraulic drive to minimal space, sufficient to shift the latch, then the flanges of water pipe are clamped again. At the time of unclamping the water pipe flanges, ejection of latch apart is performed and temporary insert is placed instead of it, flanges of the main pipe are clamped again on the flanges of temporary insert. Then, new latch is mounted on mounting seat of dismountable semi-ring instead of changeable latch. New latch is placed to the place of changeable latch between the flanges of water pipe, in this case the old gasket is removed using the stripping knife, mounted between the temporary insert of demountable semi-ring and replaceable latch. New gasket is attached to new latch in advance. Once the new latch is in place, it is fixed by bolts to the water pipe flanges and the device is dismounted to change latches under pressure.
