FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling. System of rolling mill rolls comprises first working roll (2) defining the first lengthwise axis (X) and second working roll (2') defining the second lengthwise axis (X'). Every said roll has, at its one end, a circular ledge (4, 4') its diameter D₁ being larger than diameter roll working surface diameter D₂ while its second end has appropriate circular recess (3, 3') with diameter D₃ smaller than said diameter D₂. Rolls (2, 2') can be set to rolling position and to zero position that allows idle displacement of rolled material in gap between said first and second rolls (2, 2') without being rolled. At zero position, circular ledge (4) of first roll (2) stay in contact with working surface (8') of second roll (2') while circular ledge (4') of second roll (2') contacts with working surface (8) of first roll (2). Invention covers also the rolling stand incorporating above described system of roll and method of setting of said system to zero position.

EFFECT: replacement of rolls and resetting of the stand without strip removal therefrom and fast and accurate setting of roll to zero position.
